Swedish viewers increased the amount of time spent watching TV over the last 12 months.
According to Telia, both linear and streaming services increased their hold in 2023, though the largest overall increase was to streaming.
In July, 61% more content was streamed when compared to the same period in 2023. Overall streaming increased by 4%.
News, sports and reality TV were the most popular genres, and in terms of channels, TV4 and SVT1 drew the most viewers on linear TV, while TV4 Play+ was the most streamed.
“Today, entertainment is consumed from many sources, which makes it extra gratifying to see both TV and streaming viewing increasing,” says Oscar Karlsson, head of consumer business at Telia. “The big upswing during the summer may be due that many streamed the Summer Olympics directly from the hammock. In addition, we have had a busy TV year with new partnerships and more content. With a complete range in one place, we see so that our customers don’t get lost in the TV jungle.”
Telia’s TV customers are still the most satisfied in Sweden according to the Swedish Quality Index (SKI) 2024. Telia’s TV service was once again named the best according to viewers via an independent survey carried out by Nordic Bench on behalf of TV-Nyheterna.
