Despite efforts to grow their share of the UK streaming market, neither Apple TV+ nor Paramount+ are considered ‘must-have’ subscriptions by British consumers.
The data, compiled by subscriptions bundling brand Bango, reveals that when UK consumers were asked to select just two streaming services, Apple TV+ (9%) and Paramount+ (8%) landed near the bottom of preferences. Comcast-owned NOW (12%) fared only slightly better as the smaller providers still snap at the heals of dominant rival Netflix.
“Despite rising prices, Netflix has clearly maintained its grip on UK viewers by continuing to deliver a consistent stream of high-quality, exclusive content that appeals across age groups and interests,” said Giles Tongue, subscriptions expert at Bango. “Our data shows that when consumers are pressed to choose, Netflix’s strong brand and content library set it apart from the competition, solidifying its place as the UK’s favourite streaming platform.”
Netflix, despite recent price increases, holds a dominant lead, with a majority (80%) of Brits placing it among their top two choices. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime and Disney+ follow with 48% and 36% respectively, reinforcing their places in the top tier of UK streaming preferences. When consumers were further pressed to choose just one service, Netflix’s lead expanded, capturing 59% of those surveyed.
