Former VodafoneZiggo executive William Linders has been named as the new chief executive of Viaplay in the Netherlands.
It follows the sudden departure of Roger Lodewick after just a few months in the post. Writing on Linkedin, Lodewick said he had initially wanted to relocate his family to the Netherlands from Switzerland. “For personal reasons, however, we couldn’t make the move this summer, leading to the less-than-ideal routine of weekly flights between Switzerland and the Netherlands. After discussions with Viaplay, we’ve found the best solution for Viaplay’s continued growth in the Netherlands, which means I will be stepping down as CEO of Viaplay Nederland.
Linders will take over from 1 January, report to Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, Viaplay Group’s president and CEO.
He has also worked for Fox, Endemol, and most recently the Utrecht-based digital content firm OD Media.
