SES’ Video business saw a near 7% reduction in revenues after lower revenues from mature markets.
The business has secured more than €120 million of renewals and new business in the first half of the year, including Sky, Warner Bros. Discovery and ORF. In all video, which represents 46% of total revenues, recorded €453 million.
Total revenues were largely stable at €978 million following growth in the Networks business.
In June, Astra 1P was launched to 19.2 degrees East. Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES said the company was “leveraging the latest technological innovation to sustain our most important cash-generative media neighbourhood for the long-term, while simultaneously capturing significant CapEx efficiencies”.
As with all satellite operators there are challenges from streaming and the prospect that companies it has relied on for over 30 years might slowly reduce the number of satellite transponders rented in favour of a growing online offer.
The regulatory process for the acquisition of Intelsat is underway and on track for closing during H2 2025.
