Amino has announced the launch of a new Android set-top box, designed for customers in the United States and Canada.
The new 7Y model updates the range with the latest silicon while improving sustainability and packaging. It supports Wi-Fi 6 in line with the latest generation of gateways currently in deployment.
Amino has also added a new Lima remote control giving customers a smaller, simplified option to complement other options available from Amino. Lima has been streamlined with 10 fewer buttons than the previous model.
“The launch of the Amigo 7Y marks an exciting step forward for both our customers and the environment,” said Jonny McKee, VP of Product Management & Customer Support at Amino. “The 7Y updates our portfolio to the latest chipsets and Wi-Fi 6 to provide our customers with confidence of long-term support for Android updates and maximize the product lifespan. It also reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainable design. With its reduced size, increased efficiency, and use of recycled materials, the 7Y sets a new benchmark for eco-friendly innovation in the set-top box market.”
In keeping with Amino’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the Amigo 7Y is also the company’s most eco-friendly product to date. The device, along with the remote, is made from recycled plastics. Additionally, the Amigo 7Y is 39.9% smaller than the 7X V2, contributing to a 43% reduction in packaging volume. This size reduction also enables a 42% increase in the number of units packed per pallet, resulting in a lower carbon footprint for transportation.
