Samsung TV Plus adds FAST Channels in Europe

October 30, 2024 21.07 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Samsung’s free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) has announced a host of new channels and content in Europe for its autumn lineup.

The new channels and content span across key interest areas such as news, sport and entertainment.

In the News category, BFMTV is launching BFM2 to offer French Samsung TV Plus viewers live rolling coverage. Spanish viewers will also now be able to access CNN en Español, available 24 hours a day in Spanish, with the latest headlines and breaking news from Latin America and the world.

The latest season of European football has arrived and DAZN is bringing Samsung TV Plus viewers the action. The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season kicks off with DAZN’s exclusive UCL Show on DAZN FAST+, airing twice every Champions League week for German Samsung TV Plus viewers. These viewers will also get to see the top games from LaLiga, Ligue 1 and SerieA live.

Football lovers in the UK, Nordics, and Netherlands won’t miss out, as they will be able to catch UEFA Women’s Champions League live matches on the exclusive DAZN Women’s Football channel (DAZN Rise in Germany and Austria).

And Samsung TV Plus viewers in the UK, Spain and Sweden will now be able to watch matches from the Men’s and Women’s DFB-Pokal, 3. Liga (Third Division), U-19 Youth Bundesliga and various national teams, live and free on DFB Play TV, the new FAST channel of the German Football Association. Viewers of Samsung TV Plus in the UK will be able to enjoy DFB Play TV exclusively.

Samsung’s ongoing partnership with Nexo TV further expands in Italy with the launch of four new film channels featuring a selection of blockbusters that are now distributed by Samsung TV Plus through Nexo TV channels. Comedy Time is designed entirely for comedy, offering a wide selection of comedy films. Western Time is dedicated to iconic westerns, curated by Leone Group, a company founded by the legendary Sergio Leone. Crime Time, also from Leone Group, caters to fans of gripping thrillers, murder mysteries, and action-packed narratives (launching in November). Finally, Christmas Time, a pop-up channel.

In France, Chronicles of the sun (Un Si Grand Soleil), a series that follows the daily lives of families and various characters living in Montpellier will be available for the first time on FAST with Samsung TV Plus. Produced by France.tv studio (Epeios Production), and distributed by France TV Distribution, season 1-3 will soon air on Samsung TV’s giving fans the ability to rewatch their favourite seasons, and draw in new audiences to the nation’s favourite soap.

German viewers have a bumper lineup of content coming to their screens this autumn. Samsung extends its relationship with ITV Studios with new additions including Fluss Monster (River Monster), the globally acclaimed show that follows the worldwide adventures of biologist, adventurer and extreme angler Jeremy Wade. In collaboration with ZDF Studios, Samsung TV Plus will launch another channel as part of a pan-European partnership. “ZDF zu Hause” will feature ZDF’s most successful home and garden shows. And ARD Plus brings nostalgic TV to FAST via their distribution partner High View with Lindenstraße, the series, which became famous as the first German soap.

Other favourite drama series including Poldark (UK), Harlots (UK), Bosch (UK, Germany) and more to be announced soon will be further added to the autumn lineup, available exclusively to Samsung households on Samsung TV Plus.

Samsung Ads research also indicates that 64% of viewers believe content on FAST channels is improving, with 30% expecting to increase their FAST consumption in the future.

Jennifer Batty, Director of Content Partnerships, Samsung TV Plus and The Art Store said: “At Samsung, we’re committed to not only expanding our platform with fresh, exciting content for our viewers, but also creating meaningful opportunities for our content partners. This autumn lineup reflects our continued investment in bringing the best news, sports, and entertainment channels to audiences while helping our partners connect with new viewers in a rapidly evolving streaming landscape.”
