Disney had expanded its paid sharing program that allows members to ‘extend’ their household to friends and family members.
These features and capabilities are now available in Europe, the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Asia-Pacific region after launching in select markets over the summer.
It’s the latest action by streamers to combat the unlicensed sharing of passwords and follows a similar stance from Netflix.
Account holders who want to add someone outside of their household to their Disney+ subscription can do so with the Extra Member add-on. For example, in the UK, an Extra Member profile costs an additional £3.99 per month on the Standard with Ads Subscription plan and £4.99 per month on the Standard and Premium Subscription Plans.
However, Disney is restricting the extra member slot to one per account.
Should a member want to leave the household and establish their own account, it’s possible to take settings and preferences to the new account.
