Tele2 and Disney+ in Swedish first

September 23, 2024 11.52 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Tele2 is to bundle Disney+ into its Tele2 TV and streaming packages for new customers, in a first for the Swedish market.

It follows a new agreement between the operator and the streaming services.

“The addition of Disney+ to Tele2’s portfolio enables us to deliver an even stronger entertainment product to our customers,” says Hendrik de Groot, Chief Commercial Officer at Tele2. “At Tele2, we constantly have the ambition to increase the value for our customers. It is important for us to be able to offer the best entertainment, of which Disney+ is of course an important component.|

The offer is initially being made to new customers, but will later be extended to those already with the service. For existing subscribers there is the option to upgrade to the new portfolio for immediate access to Disney+.

“We are incredibly happy to collaborate with Tele2, one of the largest players in the Swedish telecom industry, with a fantastic distribution platform for entertainment. Tele2 shares our ambition to continuously increase customer satisfaction through a premium offering, and later this autumn we will jointly be able to offer Tele2 subscribers access to live European football, in addition to a huge entertainment package including award-winning films and TV series and a unique library of classics from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, says Hans van Rijn, CEO, The Walt Disney Company Nordic & Baltic.

The Walt Disney Company Denmark and Sweden have secured the rights to the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League on Disney+ for the 2024/25 season until the end of the 2026/27 season. Matches will be live streamed exclusively in Denmark and Sweden.
