Sky has apologised after several hundred users of Sky Glass TVs found they were unable to turn on their sets.
Problems were first reported on Thursday evening just before 21.00 BST with problems continuing into Friday morning.
The reasons behind the failure are unknown, though a failed software update appears the most likely explanation.
A Sky spokesperson told Broadband TV News: “We are sorry that some Sky Glass and Stream customers are currently experiencing issues when trying to switch on their devices.”
Sky is advising customers to manually restart their devices to resolve the issue using instructions found on the Sky website.
Similar issues have also been reported with Sky Stream, the small puck-sized device, that can be used to stream content to an existing TV.
Launched in October 2021, Sky Glass is an integrated TV that combines a regular TV tuner with a managed IPTV service featuring content from Sky and partners including Disney, Netflix and Discovery. The hardware is also available internationally from Comcast, Foxtel and MultiChoice.
Between them Sky Glass and Sky Stream are seen as the successor to Sky’s satellite network.
