Ralf Berger new FRK Chair, Heinz-Peter Labonte becomes President

September 13, 2024 10.25 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German cable operator association FRK elected a new leadership at its 27th Broadband Congress on 12 September 2024 in Leipzig.

Long-standing Chairman Heinz-Peter Labonte (pictured right, standing) will be succeeded by Ralf Berger (pictured left, standing), Managing Director of FRK. Labonte was elected President.

Berger’s deputies were also newly elected. Bernd Nitzschner and Reinhardt Plückhahn, who both did not stand for re-election, will be succeeded by Daniel Niebuhr and Frank Plückhahn. Franz Ziener was confirmed as treasurer. The Executive board is completed by co-opted board member Sebastian Labonte and the five assessors Rico Gerhardt, Wolfgang Haas, Franz-Josef Kukuk, Thomas Pester and Andreas Sack.

Labonte was FRK Chairman for 15 years and has been a member of the association for 28 years. At the general meeting, which took place during the FRK Broadband Congress, Labonte thanked his predecessor, the late FRK co-founder Heinz-Jürgen Bien, as well as Bernd Nitzschner, to whom he owed a great deal. Labonte’s special thanks went to his successor Ralf Berger, who has successfully managed the FRK and organised the annual Broadband Congress with his team for many years.

“As President, Heinz-Peter Labonte will represent FRK to the outside world and continue to support us with his many years of experience,” said Berger on Labonte’s election as FRK President. “We have achieved a great deal in recent years, not least through the FRK’s numerous collaborations with other telecommunications associations,” said Labonte, who intends to further intensify these collaborations.

The 28th FRK Broadband Congress will take place in Leipzig on 10-11 September 2025.
