Whale TV has announced an update to its independent TV OS, Whale OS 10.
The new content-first UX design has fewer menu levels and helps consumers explore entertainment in a more personalised way through AI-powered recommendations.
Whale OS 10 enables consumers to seamlessly navigate to their favourite TV shows, whether it is streamed, broadcasted or playing on a connected device.
“We play a pivotal role in enabling consumers to navigate the streaming world seamlessly, but also empower content partners and advertisers to reach engaged viewers,” said Jason He, CEO of Whale TV. “Licensing a TV operating system is simply the only way forward for most TV brands. We bring 13 years of experience to the table and are able to deliver a TV OS that is ready for global deployment and is tried and tested by millions of households.”
New in Whale OS 10 will be the OS-level integration of Whale TV’s owned and operated free TV streaming service Whale TV+. On Whale TV+ consumers can find a selection of free entertainment across various genres, both live and on demand.
On the live section, hundreds of live TV channels will be available, across categories such as news, sports, TV series, movies and music.
Whale TV’s voice assistant is powered by ChatGPT and supports large language models, generating better recommendations and enables users to interact with their TV in a more conversational way compared to others.
Users can switch between Whale’s own voice assistant or Amazon’s Alexa. It’s also possible to upload to mobile devices and to send digital postcards to friends and family.
Whale OS 10 is expected to start shipping in the first half of 2025.
