Petr Král to head Prima+ streaming service

September 5, 2024 12.43 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Petr Král has assumed the position of director of the VOD and FAST segment at the Czech broadcaster Prima.

The former manager of online projects will replace Josef Beneš as director of VOD service.

“I would like to thank Pep Beneš for the successful launch of streaming platform prima+, which we developed in-house from the beginning. In 19 months, we managed to establish the Prima+ service among Czech viewers. We have acquired 1.2 million registered users, over 172 thousand paying customers and we have reached a total of 148 million played videos,” says Marek Singer, CEO of the Prima Group.

It appears the rapid development of streaming platforms in the Czech market is what has led to the change of leader. Among the plans by Prima to accelerate its digital services is to offer more personalised content to viewers.

“Prima+ is a great streaming platform that offers people a lot of interesting content. My goal is to further expand the content of the platform so that every viewer can find something for themselves. I see great opportunities, for example, in programs for children and the younger generation,” says Král.

Petr Král has been active in the online world for almost three decades. For more than eight years, he worked as the director of product development at Seznam.cz. He also led the digital activities of TV Nova and was responsible for the relaunch of the Voyo platform. At the Czech News Center media group, he held the role of director of paid content, where he focused on the strategy and consolidation of premium content.

Prima offers a Basic tier, which allows access to the Prima group’s video archive. An expanded Light offer for CZK 99 per month includes previews of popular Prima programs. The Premium tariff for CZK 149 per month includes a complete offer in Full HD quality commercial free. Each registered user can create up to five personalised family profiles with recommended, tailored content. It is also possible to register up to five devices in the household, and it is possible to watch three Prima+ streams at the same time.
