Zattoo collaborates with Media Distillery on new product suite

August 27, 2024 08.22 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Zattoo and Media Distillery have announced their new collaboration, which includes AI- and Machine Learning-enriched Time Marker Suite, pre-validated for Zattoo’s B2B managed platform service for operators Stream API, to be unveiled at IBC 2024.

Zattoo is set to launch Stream API, a powerful suite of services, tools and platform that enables application developers and operators to rapidly build, launch and scale the next generation of streaming applications and services. Zattoo´s goal is to create a complimentary and strategically curated B2B partner ecosystem to further booth growth for its managed service offering. Media Distillery is one of the first technology pre-validated partners on board so far. Zattoo and Media Distillery will explore opportunities to leverage Media Distillery’s core solution EPG Correction Distillery™ as well as Ad Break Distillery™.

“We are delighted to welcome Media Distillery as an ecosystem partner to enable our joint customers to leverage our complementary platforms and tools to unlock new revenue streams,” said Bert Schulzki, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Zattoo. “We believe that fostering a vibrant ecosystem will enable application developers and OTT service providers to work with the best solutions, accelerate their development, and deliver superior end-user experiences.“

“We are extremely proud that Zattoo selected Media Distillery as an ecosystem partner to enhance user experiences across the operator networks of its ambitious B2B business,” said Roland Sars, CEO of Media Distillery. “We’re eager to work with Zattoo and its operator partners to deliver seamless viewing experiences to customers.”

EPG Correction Distillery enhances viewing because it ensures that EPG programme schedule information is accurate. Linear broadcasts don’t always align with the EPG. Without correction, on replay or catch-up, the viewer might experience the end of the programme being cut off, or see the end of the preceding show. Subscribers will benefit from accurate EPG information, and can select and enjoy catch-up and replay TV without missing any of their desired content.

With Ad Break Distillery, operators can identify the placement of ads for the myriad channels, which don’t provide ad break markers. While some broadcasters include ad markers in their transmissions, most do not – and this is where Media Distillery’s Ad Break Distillery comes in. Ad Break Distillery automatically detects the start and stop of advertisement breaks in broadcast video, So operators can provide a consistent user experience across its Replay TV channel line-up.

Both award-winning solutions are part of Media Distillery’s Time Marker Suite, which harnesses AI and ML to analyse broadcasts across multiple channels in real-time, allowing service providers to enhance catch-up and replay experiences. With Time Marker Suite, operators can more effectively monetize catch-up and replay formats and re-use content archives for FAST and AVOD platforms.

At IBC 2024, the Media Distillery-Zattoo integration will be demonstrated on both partners’ booths – Zattoo – Stand 5.A92 and Media Distillery – stand 5.H75.
