4iG Group and RTL Hungary have agreed a strategic partnership for the distribution of RTL Hungary’s television channels and the RTL+ streaming service, as well as cooperation in the areas of programme production.
Gabriella Vidus, CEO of RTL Magyarország, said the main winners will be the viewers. “This cooperation is of strategic importance from the point of view of RTL+, and is also an important stage in the transformation of RTL Hungary, where partnerships are key to creating long-term business sustainability.”
From January 2025, in addition to RTL Hungary, only the 4iG Group can sell or distribute RTL+ among the domestic telecommunications providers. Existing agreements with Vodafone Hungary and DIGI.
RTL will continue to be available as a free-to-air channel.
The broadcast production division of 4iG Group will support RTL Hungary in the UEFA Champions League matches.
The 4iG Group will provide detailed information on the details of television subscription packages and access to the RTL+ streaming service at the same time as the introduction of the ONE brand.
“The partnership is not only an important stage in the ongoing competition for viewers and subscribers, but also supports the renewal of domestic television viewing habits, and thanks to our developments in the background, we can raise digital television and streaming services to a higher level in Hungary,” said Péter Fekete, CEO of the 4iG Group.
The two companies also agreed to distribute RTL Hungary’s 12-channel portfolio, including the media company’s four new, second-generation channels launched in December 2023. As a result, RTL, RTL KETT?, RTL THREE, RTL GOLD, RTL OTTHON, Film+, Series+, Cool TV, Music TV, Kölyökklub, Miziklub, Seriesklub television channels will be available to all customers of the 4iG Group, depending on the chosen subscription package.
