New agreement between Canal+ and DAZN for Ligue 1 start

August 13, 2024 17.53 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Canal+ Group and DAZN have signed a new distribution partnership that will give subscribers access to all Ligue 1 matches, starting August 16.

The DAZN 1 live channel, up to 4 additional channels and an associated non-linear offer will all be available to Canal subscribers. This includes coverage of 8 Ligue 1 games on each matchday, live and exclusive, as well as the Champions Trophy and the play-off matches.

Shay Segev, CEO of the DAZN Group, said: “We want to make our premium sports content accessible to as many people as possible and this is why this distribution partnership between DAZN and Canal+ is excellent news for all sports fans in France. This distribution of DAZN with Canakl strengthens our ability to innovate and invest in our platform and our offers.”

Canal has already signed an agreement with beIN Sport for the 5pm Saturday kick-off.

Maxime Saada, chairman of the management board of the Canal+ Group, adds: “We are very pleased with this new partnership with DAZN, which is excellent news both for our subscribers and for all sports fans. With this agreement, the Canal+ Group is consolidating its position as a major player in sports in Europe. DAZN offers a very high-quality sports offering that perfectly complements the offering of Canal+ channels as well as that of third parties that we aggregate, to the great delight of our subscribers.”

Subscribers will also be able to enjoy other top DAZN sports competitions, including the Betclic Elite basketball championship and world-class combat sports.

This partnership covers metropolitan France as well as the overseas departments.
