The French Football League (LFP) has officially ratified the pay-TV contracts for the new football season.
BeIN Sports’ offer to pay €100 million to broadcast the 5pm Saturday game has been accepted, as has the €400 million from DAZN for 8 matches per week. The contract will run from the start of the season until 2029, though it has been reported there is a contract break available after 2 years.
“These strategic agreements, concluded at the end of a particularly rigorous and collegial process, offer the necessary guarantees for all clubs,” the LFP said in a statement.
DAZN will also have the exclusive rights to offer all Ligue 1 matches to commercial venues.
Tom Tregelles, EVP Commercial at DAZN, said: “Ligue 1 matches will now be available across bars and restaurants nationwide via DAZN’s commercial offering. Benefitting from the high quality of the content and the excellent value of the proposition, businesses can attract more people into their venues by partnering with DAZN.”
Club bosses had previously rejected an offer for Warner Bros Discovery that would have allowed the Eurosport owner rights to all of the matches, offered to subscribers alongside the full Max catalogue, in an offer similar to that of Discovery+ and TNT Sports in the UK.
