Warner Bros Discovery is deploying Bugs Bunny as a guest reporter during Eurosport’s coverage of the Olympic Games this summer.
Based in a secret location in Paris, Bugs will interview athletes from around the globe, alongside Eurosport’s in house team of experts. The content will form part of Eurosport’s daily local shows.
Bugs Bunny’s role as guest reporter in Paris continues the Looney Tunes association with sport, Eurosport and the Games. Looney Tunes: Sports Made Simple has featured in Eurosport’s weekly Power of the Olympics programme, with each episode re-airing at editorially relevant moments during coverage of Paris 2024. The 90-second clips include the 4 x 100m relay, tennis, mountain biking, breaking, beach volleyball and gymnastics.
Scott Young, Group SVP Content, Production and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe, said: “Our ambition for our coverage of Paris 2024 is for it to be fresh, fun and engaging. Bugs is an iconic character who transcends sport and I am sure his inimitable style will keep our guests on their toes and bring a little joy to those who love sport and love being entertained.
In the 1990s Cartoon Network, itself now a part of Warner Bros Discovery, created Space Ghost a cartoon superhero turned talk show host. The series ran for 5 years before a brief revival on Adult Swim.
