German media companies FUNKE Digital and OneGate Media are launching nostalgia channel DDR TV-Archiv on Samsung TV Plus.
With this latest addition to the FUNKE Channels content portfolio, a collection of GDR TV heritage returns to the screens. DDR TV-Archiv grants viewers access to programme assets of the former GDR-based broadcaster Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF), which includes thrillers, dramas as well as children’s films and series from 1952 to 1991.
Classics such as Polizeiruf 110, Daniel Druskat and Das unsichtbare Visier are a treasure for fans of TV nostalgia and offer younger generations an insight into this cultural heritage, according to FUNKE Digital.
“Our collaboration with FUNKE Digital and OneGate Media to bring DDR TV-Archiv to Samsung TV Plus reflects our commitment to providing unique content. We are proud to make this part of German-German history accessible on our platform,” said Benedikt Frey, Country Lead DACH and Benelux at Samsung TV Plus.
The addition to Samsung TV Plus further extends the reach of DDR TV-Archiv. On 1 June 2024, the channel launched on the TIVEE platform, which brings FAST Channels to German cable networks via an HbbTV app.
FUNKE Digital has been cooperating with Samsung TV Plus since 2016 and currently supplies a FAST service with 26 channels in eight European countries. As a full-service provider, FUNKE Digital supports content producers and network operators in distributing and monetising video content on FAST TV platforms such as LG Channels, Rakuten TV, Samsung TV Plus, TIVEE or Xiaomi TV+ as well as on the portals of the FUNKE Media Group.
