The Italian communications regulator Agcom has introduced rules that mandate due prominence for digital terrestrial television services.
Following consultation with broadcasters and manufacturers, including those of so-called ‘smart sticks’ the new white-on-blue Canali TV logo will be required to be displayed on all devices to immediately link viewers to DTT channels.
According to Agcom the logo must be:
available to users on the home pages of all devices eligible to receive content transmitted on the platform.
not smaller than the other icons or tiles in the portion of the screen where it is placed.
identical across all devices and all user interfaces – designed to allow clear and immediate visibility.
In a statement the authority said the logo marked an important step in its stragey that gave adequate importance to informative, political, educational, scientific, but also entertainment content, while respecting the freedom of choice of users.
The new icon will not only apply to new TVs, but also to those already on the market.
