BBC Studios and Samsung TV Plus expand FAST portfolio

July 15, 2024 11.31 Europe/London By Julian Clover

A new agreement between BBC Studios and Samsung would put 383 more hours of BBC content on Samsung TV Plus across EMEA.

Already available in Spain, Italy and France, BBC Drama will debut on Samsung TV Plus in MENA featuring 1950s drama, Call The Midwife, light-crime drama set in the Caribbean, Death in Paradise and family drama, The Durrells.

Also available as a FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus is popular British motoring series, Top Gear, which will be available in MENA, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. This launch follows the successful launch on Samsung TV Plus in Benelux and across the same markets on Pluto TV.

Kasia Jablonska, Director of Digital and On-Demand for EMEA at BBC Studios, said, “Our extensive catalogue of award-winning, high-quality content, offers an incredible base for building BBC Studios FAST and Digital Products portfolio. I am so proud to announce the expansion of BBC Drama and Top Gear FAST channels with Samsung TV Plus, giving new audiences across EMEA access to the suite of bingeable content from BBC Studios world renowned catalogue. With FAST channel launches across 42 EMEA countries in just 5 years, I’m excited for BBC Studios’ future in this space.”

“We are thrilled with the expansion of our Samsung TV Plus streaming service into the MENA region this month. BBC Studios have been a great partner and addition to our service in Europe, we are pleased to have them grow with us into new regions” adds Jennifer Batty, Head of Content Acquisition at Samsung TV Plus Europe. “It’s exciting to see how FAST is evolving to meet the demands of its growing global viewership.”

Samsung TV Plus is Samsung’s free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) and video-on-demand service which offers nearly 2,500 channels globally.
