South Africa’s public broadcaster has announced a slate of new features for its SABC Plus OTT platform.
SABC has introduced a new website version and mobile apps for iOS, Android and Huawei devices. There are also connected TV apps and versions for Apple TV and, in due course, Google TV.
A new interface will include Personalised Recommendations, Catch-Up Services, Video on Demand (VOD). Voice Command (for content search) and a TV Schedule and Radio Now Playing EPG
“SABC Plus is our latest innovation, reinforcing the public broadcaster’s commitment to providing the best programming. This platform houses an impressive array of content, including groundbreaking comedies, spine-chilling horrors, and captivating dramas, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of our nation,” said SABC Group Chief Executive Officer Nomsa Chabeli says, “The SABC has been at the forefront of fostering diversity and inclusivity through its extensive catalogue of television, radio, and news offerings in the country’s official 12 languages.”
Audiences can also view programming from international service Channel Africa, which combines programming in Chinyanja, Kiswahili, English, French and Portuguese.
