Channel 4 said its streaming audience grew by nearly one third in June, boosted by hit shows including docudrama The Fall: Skydive Murder Plot and US reality show Dance Moms, which helped it to generate more than four billion viewer minutes in watch time last month.
According to Barb data, Channel 4’s streaming audience in June is up by a third compared to the same period in 2023.
“Our strong performance in June, with success across a wide range of titles, demonstrates the clear editorial and content approach set out in our Fast Forward strategy,” said Kiran Nataraja, Director of Streaming & Content Strategy. “Despite the tough competitive landscape with UEFA Euro 2024, audiences continued to flock to Channel 4 streaming last month as a destination to discover innovative new commissions, alongside well-loved brands.”
The data is helping the broadcaster achieve its Fast Forward strategy to become the first public service streamer. It also shows the proportion of total viewing via streaming is up by 29% year on year over the first six months of 2024.
