England win gives ITVX biggest ever livestream

July 11, 2024 12.09 Europe/London By Julian Clover

A peak of 21.6 million viewers watched England’s semi-final victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday evening.

It’s the highest peak audience on a single channel since December 2022, Britain watched England’s quarter final exit on ITV in the World Cup.

ITVX had a record breaking number of people come to its platform to livestream the coverage, with 16.8 million streams of ITV’s coverage of the semi-final, ITVX’s biggest ever livestream audience and, by extension, the highest livestream audience of the tournament.

Across TV and streaming, an average audience of 19.6 million viewers watched the match between 8pm and 9:55pm across ITV1 and ITVX, with 12.7 million viewers watching the overall coverage between 6.30pm and 10.45pm, a 64% share of viewing.

England now meet Spain in the final, which will be shown by both the BBC and ITV, who have shared coverage of earlier rounds.
