VodafoneZiggo has acquired 100MHz of 3.5GHz spectrum in the most recent Dutch frequency auction for a total cost of €57.5 million.
Four years ago, VodafoneZiggo was the first operator to introduce a nationwide 5G network in the Netherlands. The new spectrum licence runs until 2040.
Thomas Helbo, Chief Technology Officer at VodafoneZiggo said: “We are pleased with the result of the auction. Securing additional spectrum will not only further strengthen our mobile services and 5G-activities, but also ensure that we can continue to innovate, drive digital transformation and support sustainable development.”
The company uses the Vodafone brand for its mobile operations, establishing itself as part of the largest 5G network in Europe and IoT market leader with more than 175 million IoT connections.
