IBC is working with EBU to create a new AI Tech Zone at this year’s conference and exhibition.
The AI Tech Zone is designed to offer a central hub for AI providers, creators utilising the technology, and solution vendors meeting specific industry needs to show how AI can positively impact the industry.
“I have a feeling we’ll see it begin to grow up a little bit during IBC with some sort of real world, real AI examples moving on from some of the machine learning that perhaps we’ve seen in the past,” said Michael Crimp, IBC’s Chief Executive Officer. “If you go down to the zone, you will see a whole central hub of AI providers, generative AI creators, AI solutions, solution providers across the board. And I think what they’ll do is they’ll show the positive impact that AI can and will have on the media and entertainment ecosystem.”
The AI Tech Zone is part of Hall 14, which Crimp said had become one of the biggest expanding areas for the event. It also features an AI Tech Zone Stage and a Networking Zone. AI exhibitors include AI4ME, AudioShake, DOT Group, Magnifi, MobiusLabs, Wasabi Technologies, The Weather Company, Video.Taxi, Vionlabs, Zaibr, and Videolinq.ai.
Among other new features being introduced at the Amsterdam show (13-16 September) are an IBC Talent Programme to address recruiting, skills and inclusivity challenges. It follows research conducted by IBC last year, which showed delegates wanted more focus on the next generation of talent.
There is also an AV Speed Pitch Event design to offer new way for exhibitors and major enterprises to create partnerships. 40 media technology companies will be given the opportunity to promote their products, services and brands directly to major AV purchasers, including Arup, AstraZeneca, Bank of America, Barclays, Deliveroo, Schroders, UBS and WPP.
The amount of space booked by exhibitors for IBC2024 has now passed 45,000 square metres, already exceeding last year’s final total – with over 1,100 exhibitors signing contracts so far. Among the 150+ new exhibitors at IBC2024 are 5G Broadcast Collective, CDN Alliance, Datacamp, Eosos, Frequency Networks, Medianet Berlin, Strada, SwXch IO, and Vubiquity, while Benro, Insta360, Robe, The Weather Company, Vecima, and Yamaha are returning to the show for the first time since 2019.
