The second season premiere of HBO Original drama House of the Dragon has given Max its largest single day audience to date.
The Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) streaming service enjoyed its best weekend (June 15/16) leading into Sunday’s record.
Season 1 of the Game of Thrones prequel saw audiences of 1 million in the week leading up to the new season and the largest engagement with the title in over 19 months.
The Season 2 premiere delivered 7.8 million cross platform viewers in the United States on Sunday night. The Season 1 premiere delivered 10 million cross platform viewers during a similar amount of time. That episode was the largest audience for any new series in HBO’s history, with all episodes ultimately averaging 29 million viewers across platforms.
In Europe, WBD would only go as far to say House of Dragon had achieved the “Biggest Season 2 Launch Ever for WBD’s Streaming Services in Europe.”
The season 2 premiere was the most-talked about episode of any Original series across social channels since the launch of Max.
