Guillaume Blanchot, the director-general of the French communications regulator Arcom, is to step down on July 1.
Blanchot, who had been with Arcom and its predecessor the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) since 2014, is taking up a new position within the Court of Auditors.
A former student of the National School of Administration (Cyrano de Bergerac), Blanchot first joined the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry where he was responsible for relations with the Maghreb countries and then trade negotiations on agriculture.
He joined the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images (CNC) in 2003 as project manager to the financial and legal director before becoming director of multimedia and technical industries, then director of audiovisual and digital creation.
Arcom president Roch-Olivier Maistre thanked Blanchot for his “valuable and talented collaboration” and “impressive record” as the head of the regulators. “There is no doubt that his extensive experience in public transformation, his legal and financial expertise and his detailed knowledge of collegial deliberation and the ethical obligations attached to it will be valuable for the work of the Court,” he said.
Blanchot’s successor will be announced shortly.
