Austrian public service broadcaster ORF is launching its new streaming platform ORF ON on 22 May 2024.
The service, which replaces media library ORF-TVthek, is available on the web at https://on.orf.at and as an app for smart TVs, smartphones and tablets.
ORF ON offers all ORF TV channels as live-streams as well as on-demand content, which is now also available for more than seven days after broadcast. Most programmes are accessible for six months, documentaries and children’s programmes for an unlimited time.
Selected programmes can also be watched up to 24 hours before they are broadcast on TV. With the restart function, currently running programmes can be reset to the beginning.
“With ORF ON, we are entering a new streaming era: Based on the new legal possibilities, we have created an innovative public value platform that combines quality and content diversity – an important step in the transformation of ORF from a traditional broadcaster to a modern public service platform. This brings us a big step closer to our goal of being an ‘ORF for all’ and informing, educating and entertaining our audience in the best possible way, also in the digital sector,” said ORF Director General Roland Weißmann in Vienna.
