W-Sport launches on Luxembourg’s POP TV

May 20, 2024 13.48 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

W-Sport, the 24/7 channel dedicated to women’s sport, has further extended its European footprint by launching in collaboration with POST Luxembourg on its POP TV service on channel 886.

The collaboration was facilitated by Alteox, a leading provider of content distribution solutions.

The news follows the launch of W-Sport in Turkey on the S-Sport platform last month adding to existing European broadcast deals in the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Portugal. W-Sport is also available in SE Asia in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia as well as in excess of 30 territories in Sub-Saharan Africa including French language territories on Canal+. The channel was launched in September 2021.

Kelly Butler, Chief Executive Officer, W-SPORT, said: “Another month and another exciting launch for W-Sport. We are delighted to continue the momentum of W-Sport’s expansion with POP TV through this agreement facilitated by Alteox in Luxembourg. Viewers will get to see the very best sports content.

“Alteox is proud to have facilitated the collaboration between W-Sport and POST Luxembourg,” added Sven Breckler, CEO at Alteox. “Our expertise in content distribution has enabled us to connect these two entities, furthering our mission to support diverse and engaging content in the media landscape.”

W-Sport aims to amplify the visibility of women’s sports, showcasing the talent, dedication, and achievements of female athletes across various disciplines. From soccer to basketball, tennis to gymnastics, the W-Sport channel on POP TV Luxembourg will offer comprehensive coverage of women’s sports events, highlights, interviews, and exclusive content.
