Blue Sport extends Swiss football content by five years

May 14, 2024 13.59 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Swisscom’s sports channel Blue Sport will continue to show top-flight Swiss football until at least the start of the 2029/30 season.

The broadcaster says the five year contract solidifies its position as the undisputed Home of Football in Switzerland.

From summer 2025, Blue Sport will also broadcast all matches from the Swiss Super League and Challenge League.

It follows a new deal between the Swiss Football League (SFL), blue Sport and the public broadcaster SRG.  Blue will continue to provide match coverage in German, French and Italian with studio production in Volketswil and Granges-Paccot and live broadcasts direct from the stadiums.

Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Residential Customers and member of the Swisscom Group Executive Board said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with SFL and SRG and proud that blue Sport can continue broadcasting all matches from the top two tiers of the Swiss football league. The extension of the relationship is testament to our continued investment in quality, innovation and production in recent years.” “We look forward to offering even more football on blue TV and to continuing the success story in the coming years,” added Cyril Wick, CEO of blue Entertainment Ltd.

Content will be offered across all platforms as part of a 360-degree strategy. Free TV coverage is also guaranteed with one Super League match per round to be broadcast on the SRG channels. In addition, the free TV channel Blue Zoom will broadcast top matches from the Challenge League.
