Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that Canal+ will offer its Max streaming service as part of a new bundle when it goes live on June 11.
Max will also launch in the Netherlands and Belgium, where it will be known as HBO Max, as well as in Poland. In Belgium, subscribers will receive ‘early access’ before a full launch on July 1.
Previously announced launches in Iberia, the Nordics, and Central & Eastern Europe will take place on May 21, bringing the number of territories where Max is available to 65 globally, including 25 in Europe.
France is one of the territories where subscribers will benefit from a series of new distribution deals. “At launch in France, Max will be available to consumers through an unprecedented array of distribution partnerships across almost all the largest mobile, broadband, and pay-TV players,” Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) said in a statement.
“Current Warner Pass subscribers in France will get an upgraded experience with Max on Prime Video Channels. Through partnerships with the majority of French mobile, broadband and pay TV providers including Free, Orange, and SFR, Max will be launching with unprecedented distribution support.”
Canal+ subscribers who already take the Ciné Séries, Friends & Family, Intégrale and Rat+ packages will have Max added to their packages at no extra cost. It builds on an existing distribution deal between Canal and WBD and will give Max access to Canal’s platforms in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Canal+ Brand Solutions will sell Max advertising inventory in France. Ad Alliance have signed an exclusive partnership for ad sales on HBO Max in the Netherlands.
The revamped Max brings together the current HBO Max, discovery+ and Eurosport and offers an enhanced viewing experience with a new app.
In the Netherlands where HBO name remains in the brand to avoid confusion with local service Max, a Basic with advertising subscription will be introduced for €5.99 per month. Users can stream content on 2 devices simultaneously with content available in Full HD resolution. The price of the Standard subscription is €9.99 per month.
The Premium subscription costs €13.99 per month; users can stream content on 4 devices simultaneously (max 2 for Sport). Full HD or 4K resolution, plus Dolby Atmos sound, (where available).
A Sport add-on costs €5.00 per month and offers coverage of live sporting events including UFC, Grand Slam tennis, the major cycling races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and live linear channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2.
In Poland, all platform users will gain access to the TVN channel. HBO, HBO 2 and HBO 3 will be part of the Standard and Premium package offer. By purchasing the additional package ‘TV and Sport Channels’, users can gain access to a further 25 channels: TVN24, TVN24 BiS, CNN, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, TVN 7, TTV, METRO, TVN Style, TVN Turbo, TVN Fabula, Warner TV, HGTV, Travel Channel, Food Network, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, ID, TLC, Discovery Channel, Discovery Historia, Discovery Life, Discovery Science and DTX.
