Teleste says the first quarter of 2024 was two-fold with turnover decreasing but relative profitability improved.
“The outlook for the whole year is still overshadowed by market uncertainty, and we expect the second quarter to be difficult,” said President & CEO Esa Harju.
The Broadband Networks business unit continued to see a “very low” demand in the European market with orders not expected to pick up until the second half of the year. In the United States, Teleste has benefited from the arrival of its 1.8GHz ICON smart amplifiers that have now reached general availability status and the first field deployments have now begun.
Four North American operators have confirmed smart amplifier orders, but overall their contribution to the Broadband Networks unit is small.
Cost saving measures have improved margins and the Public Safety and Mobility business unit saw an increase in orders.
Net sales decreased by 19.3% to €36.6 million; EBITDA was up 4.3% at €3.1 million.
