Zattoo deploys the Bitmovin Player

May 2, 2024 09.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Internet TV provider Zattoo has deployed the Bitmovin Player to elevate its audience’s viewing experience by delivering high-quality video streams to a broad range of devices.

Since Zattoo deployed the Bitmovin Player, Zattoo has seen an increase in impressions on its web platform from 10 million to 500 million, which highlights the robustness of the player, according to video streaming infrastructure provider Bitmovin.

Zattoo is operating in 10 European countries, including its original commercial footprint of Austria, Switzerland and Germany, with millions of monthly users, both on its own consumer TV platform and white-label TV-as-a-Service run for over 30 operators.

Zattoo chose the Bitmovin Player because it offered the best performance compared to other players on the market, according to Bitmovin. The player covers a wide range of devices across the web, Android, iOS, Roku and major smart TVs. It also supports features enhancing the viewing experience such as subtitles and captions, multi-audio tracks and Digital Rights Management (DRM) for content protection.

“At Zattoo, we pride ourselves on delivering a top-notch experience for our audience from the programming to underlying video streaming infrastructure,” said Stefan Kaiser, Engineering Director Video Technology. “Bitmovin’s Player ensures we are equipped with a feature-rich player that ensures stream quality, and it also has the proven ability to scale in line with our requirements so we can continue offering our audience a viewing experience that exceeds their expectations.”

“At Bitmovin, we share Zattoo’s passion for pushing the boundaries of video streaming and setting new standards in viewing experiences,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO and Co-Founder. The Bitmovin Player has demonstrated its ability as an innovative, feature-rich player that’s reliable and easy to integrate, providing Zattoo’s millions of viewers with an unrivalled streaming experience.”
