Mediaset has renewed its commitment in the fight against online piracy.
The Italian commercial broadcaster has given its backing to recent initiatives put forward by the communications regulator Agcom and has joined the Piracy Shield platform as a rights holder.
Mediaset says this is particularly relevant because of its coverage of the Coppa Italia. In the last round of the competition alone, 67 websites and IPTV operations were illegally relaying the live matches.
It says this demonstrates the effectiveness of the measures taken and says it will fight in every way a criminal phenomenon that harms not only content creators and copyright holders, but also the entire sports and entertainment industry.
