Are you finding the news just isn’t depressing enough these days or that the reboot of Big Brother just doesn’t feature enough of Big Brother himself? Or indeed enough boots. Then take out a subscription to the latest streaming service, North Korean state-run TV.
From the autumn, Shiwani TV plans to livestream Korean Central Television with its selection of propaganda about supreme leader Kim Jong Un and updates on how the world outside North Korea is a dangerous place to live.
Subscribers will pay €18 a month for the latest drama, parades and missile launches.
A flexible schedule broadcasts additional hours on public holidays set-up to mark the achievements of past leaders.
Shiwani TV is backed by the Chollima Front, an “independent initiative of friendship between Poland and North Korea.” The service will launch in the second half of the year, though it’s already possible to find a free-to-air stream and catch-up content.
In addition to the website there will also be an app that allows you to watch all the propaganda all in one place.
It will be made available internationally, though viewers in the United States and South Korea may have their own programmes given that the two countries’ national security laws make it illegal to access.
