German technology company Media Broadcast has renewed its contract with French multiscreen video applications and UX/UI service provider Dotscreen for the evolution, support and maintenance of the Freenet TV HbbTV portal.
Dotscreen is the original designer and developer of the HbbTV frontend and associated backend of the service accompanying German DTT platform Freenet TV. Since 2016, the company has continuously maintained and enhanced the HbbTV solution. Today, Dotscreen and Media Broadcast jointly decided to renew the relationship for another two years.
The Freenet TV portal by Media Broadcast is accessible by all connected users, offering services such as HbbTV applications from major German broadcasters such as ARD, ZDF, RTL, Sat.1 and ProSieben, text and video-based news articles, sports newsfeeds, national and local radio stations as well as real-time weather forecasts.
“We are happy that Media Broadcast has renewed their trust in us for our agile approach to project management and leading HbbTV expertise. HbbTV-based solutions are proving their added value for operators in more and more markets, and the Freenet service shows how far we can go with HbbTV in offering services that viewers care about,” said Stanislas Leridon, Dotscreen’s co-founder.
Dotscreen has been an HbbTV application developer since the technology’s inception. The company has developed HbbTV-based frontend applications for operators such as Together TV in the UK and Fransat in France. Other European HbbTV customers include ARTE, France24, Mediaset and ERT.
