In a surprise move, M6 Group has secured the rights to the football World Cup for France in 2026 and 2030.
It had been anticipated that TF1, which holds the rights to matches involving the national team, would also pick up the FIFA competition. Its understood that TF1 had entered a bid for the 2026 competition, but was not willing to match the M6 offer.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, from June to July 2026. The 2030 FIFA World Cup takes place in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

M6 already holds the rights to the UEFA Euro 2024, the Europa League until June 2024, the Champions League Final from 2025 to 2027 and matches involving the French women’s football team until 2027.
