TDF selects Enensys for French UHD DTT service

March 6, 2024 21.42 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

French media delivery solutions provider Enensys is part of the rollout of the first UHD multiplex on DTT in France with its OneBeam DVB-SIS technology.

A few months before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, DTT broadcasting begins its modernisation across France with the launch of the France 2 channel in UHD/4K, transmitted free-to-air.

The overall system efficiency is enhanced by the use of a transport architecture based on DVB-SIS (Single Illumination System) technology, implemented in Enensys’ OneBeam solution, which enables the same satellite stream to be used for individual DTH satellite reception and for feeding DTT transmitters, according to Enensys.

“TDF, which operates the UHD headend, is very pleased with the successful deployment of the DVB-SIS technology via Enensys’ innovative solution. This enables us to contribute to the evolution of the DTT platform, by mutualising services for viewers on both terrestrial and satellite channels,” said Gaëlle Kaminsky, Deputy Director of Audiovisual and Networks at TDF.

Régis Le Roux, CEO and founder of Enensys Technologies, added: “TDF and Enensys are long-standing partners, and we’re delighted to be contributing to the modernisation of DTT in France. Our OneBeam solution has been deployed internationally for 10 years, and we are proud to install it in France as part of the launch of UHD on DTT. Thanks to this solution, second-generation DTT networks can be deployed faster and at lower cost, for a marked improvement in the viewer experience.“
