German media company Leonine Studios expands its production division and launches the new label Leonine Documentaries.
The unit, headed by Jochen Köstler, will focus on commercial and popular topics, particularly in the genres biopic, portrait and docu-follow. Before joining Leonine Studios as Executive Vice President Non-Fiction on 1 January, 2024, Köstler served as Managing Director of Constantin Entertainment for the past six years.
“Leonine Documentaries stands for topics and people that shape the zeitgeist. Our goal is to produce premium commercial documentaries for a broad audience with a perfect blend of information, entertainment and great production value,” said Köstler.
“With the new label, we expand Leonine Studios’ premium content portfolio in the non-fiction sector and enhance the outstanding documentary expertise of Leonine’s beetz brothers film production and the strong information programme segment of Leonine’s i&u TV with additional high-potential growth genres in documentaries. We’re planning to expand this programme area in line with market demand,” added Köstler.
