Apple has revealed that its Services segment, which includes Apple TV+, has now surpassed 2.2 billion active devices.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook confirmed Thursday that Services – Apple Music, Arcade, News, Podcasts – has 1 billion subscribers. This represents a doubling of the figure over the past 4 years.
“We are pleased to announce that our installed base of active devices has now surpassed 2.2 billion, reaching an all-time high across all products and geographic segments,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive. “And as customers begin to experience the incredible Apple Vision Pro tomorrow, we are committed as ¬ever to the pursuit of groundbreaking innovation — in line with our values and on behalf of our customers.”
Apple doesn’t breakout individual figures for its Services, which are sold both individually and as bundles. A number of sweetheart deals have been signed for Apple TV+ with pay-TV operations and subscriptions extended to purchasers of new Apple products.
However, overall in 2023, Apple reported its first drop in full-year revenue since 2019. Sales were down by 6% to $298 billion amid concerns over uptake of the iPhone in China.
