O2 TV expands sports offer with two new channels

January 26, 2024 12.42 Europe/London By Julian Clover

O2 TV is to launch two new sports channels in the Czech market on February 29.

Nova Sport 5 and Nova Sport 6 will screen Formula 1 along with MotoGP, WRC and the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK). Matches from Bundesliga, LaLiga and Serie A will also be shown,

It follows the launch in January of Premier Sport 3, which follows the ATP tennis tour.

“The new stations will ideally complement our sports content, which has practically everything that could interest a sports viewer. Like, for example, all FORTUNA:LIGA matches or hockey extra leagues, as well as the UEFA Champions League, prestigious foreign competitions, MMA galas and now the best from the world of motorsport. In the program composition of O2 TV, fans have up to 25 sports channels at their disposal, which is the widest offer on the market,” said Anna Lenerová, head of content at O2.

The new F1 season starts at the end of February with the Bahrain Grand Prix giving world champion the chance to defend his title.

“Last year, we especially pleased football and hockey fans. Now we are adding new content for all motoring fans. The Nova Sport 5 and Nova Sport 6 channels are already included in the O2 TV Bronzová basic tariff. Of course, they will also be available in O2 TV Stríbrná, O2 TV Zlatá, O2 TV Business and prepaid tariffs,” added Dana Tomášková, director of digital services and O2 TV.

Nova signed a multi-year contract for exclusive broadcasting rights from F1 starting in 2024. Nova Sport has been present in the country since 2008. It also has rights to NHL, NBA, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and others.
