TVN Warner Bros. Discovery to launch 15 FAST channels

January 18, 2024 12.56 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Polish commercial channel TVN is today launching a portfolio of 15 FAST channels as part of a revamp of its Player platform.

The Warner Bros. Discovery brand is also creating a free area for Player, already the largest and most popular local streaming service in the Polish market. In addition to the FAST channels there will also be an ad-supported VOD area featuring popular TVN shows.

“The success of FAST channels on global markets confirms that the combination of the advantages of linear television and streaming is gaining more and more popularity,” says Kasia Kieli, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland and CEO of TVN. “I am glad that today we can present as many as 15 completely new channels to Polish recipients, because the scale of this project is unique both from the perspective of our country and international markets. Investment in FAST channels is a step towards the future of television.”

Included are celebrity chef Magda Gessler, talk show host Kuba Wojewódzki and those looking for love in Hotel Paradise. The content is expected to change over time in line with customer demands.

Other Discovery channels TTV, TVN7 and Metro will also be available through Player.

“Ahead of us is the largest media event of 2024 in Poland – the entry of the MAX platform, which required review and consolidation of the digital portfolio of TVN WBD,” – adds Maciej Gozdowski, Group Vice President – Streaming in Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland. “Therefore, we decided to build and strengthen the position of the Player even more, including the huge potential of VOD.pl content in the new free Player zone.”

Functionality and content from VOD.pl will be transferred to the Player in an expanding format with viewers able to use their existing login and website.
