Jeremy Helfand is joining Amazon to run its advertising unit as the streamer prepares to introduce spots into its content.
Helfand joined Hulu in 2018 as its VP and Head of Advertising Platforms, having previously worked at Hulu and Disney which now owns the platform.
“I joined Hulu in 2018 to jump into the then emerging streaming TV revolution, and what an incredible ride it has been, ultimately landing at Disney,” said Helfand. “Through all the business growth and innovation, the team is what you remember most, and I’m so proud of what was accomplished.”
Amazon says it will introduce “limited advertisements” for Prime Video subscribers in February.
Rather than introduce a new tier that will feature advertisements, Amazon subscribers will continue to pay £8.99 per month.
