Greek public broadcaster ERT has appointed the former executive director of pay-TV platform Nova as its new managing director.
Katerina Kaskanioti was a leading executive at Nova for 23 years. At Nova, she introduced major international networks to the Greek audience for the first time, alongside HD channels and the first on-demand service in Greece. Kaskanioti was responsible for the creation and operation of the NovaCinema and NovaSports channels. She has been particularly active in promoting Greek cinema – approving and co-producing 135 feature films.
She is also President of the Women in Film and Television network, and a member of the Board of Directors of Women in Film and Television International.
Born in Athens, she graduated from the School of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina.
Kaskanioti began her career as a production manager in a film company and continued at McCann Erickson as a producer of advertising films.
In 1998, she became managing director of Greece’s first children’s channel, KTV.
