Spending on Netflix increased by a quarter after the streaming service launched a crackdown on password sharing.
Digital bank Monzo said the rise took place in May, shortly after Netfix introduced restrictions on how subscribers could share their passwords with friends and family.
Netflix introduced a cost for users who wanted to add an extra member outside of the household to their account, leading to a rise in the number of people paying for the service.
Monzo, whose users are typically aged between 25 and 34, has given a number of insights into its account holders’ spending.
In February, In a blog post, Chengyi Long, Director, Product Innovation explained that over 100 million households were currently sharing accounts “impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and film”.
