BT has experienced a record-breaking day for overall traffic volumes on its broadband network.
The surge in demand was driven by six Premier League games streamed live on Amazon Prime and major updates to Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Amazon’s midweek package, which is not being renewed under the contracts announced this week, sees all matches kicking off simultaneously.
A heatmap released by BT shows particular demand in North West England – both Liverpool and Manchester City were in action.
There were also major updates to Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Last Sunday saw the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5, a 15-25GB download available across platforms. By 10am BT was shipping 8Tb/s+ more across the network than a typical Sunday.
