Tele Columbus launches TV/streaming platform PŸUR TV HD

December 5, 2023 11.58 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German cable operator Tele Columbus is launching the hybrid TV and streaming platform PŸUR TV HD for its customers, which combines classic television with on-demand offerings.

At its centre is an Android TV-based set-top box that offers linear TV channels and the additional interactive add-on features restart, live pause, time-shift and 7-day catch-up. The functions are available for the most-watched channels including ARD, ZDF, RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 as well as pay-TV channels.

PŸUR TV HD also provides access to the broadcasters’ catch-up portals and the apps available in the Google Play Store. Netflix, RTL+, Prime Video, Disney+ and YouTube are pre-installed. The user interface offers individual recommendations from the TV channels and from most of the installed streaming providers on the start page, as well as a search function covering all providers.

The PŸUR TV box comes from French manufacturer Sagemcom and offers a quadruple DVB-C tuner, Gigabit LAN and WiFi 6 (802.11 ax). Next year, apps for mobile devices inside and outside the home network are to be added, whereby use on the move must be booked for a fee. Also announced for 2024 are an external hard drive for storing personal recordings, which customers can rent, and a smart speaker with Dolby Atmos and sound technology developed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen.

During the introductory phase, PŸUR TV HD comes with six free months for all new customers. After that, access will cost €12.99 per month. The basic cable subscription and the HDTV option are included. The TV offer comprises up to 94 channels, 73 of which are in HD. A monthly fee of €4.99 is charged for the hardware provided. The minimum contract term is 24 months. After that, the TV product can be cancelled at any time within one month.

PŸUR TV HD will be offered immediately to all interested parties who do not yet have a PŸUR cable subscription or do not yet have an HDTV product from PŸUR. Existing customers will be able to switch to PŸUR TV HD from February 2024.
