Austrian public broadcaster ORF is launching children’s channel ORF Kids on January 1, 2024.
The channel will be available as a linear 24-hour streaming service on the web at https://kids.orf.at. The content will also be offered on demand.
With entertainment, science and information programmes, including a large amount of original productions, ORF Kids targets children between the ages of 3 and 13. There will also be films and series, including well-known franchises such as The Smurfs, Lassie and The Famous Five.
“With ORF Kids, we are closing a major programme gap for our youngest viewers. With our 24-hour streaming channel and the new on-demand offer, we want to entertain our youngest viewers, encourage them to join in and have their say, promote their creativity and pass on relevant knowledge in an age-appropriate way,” said ORF Programme Director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz in Vienna.
“At the same time, we offer parents the security of knowing that their children are in good hands with us. This non-violent and ad-free programme offer for children is unique in Austria,” she added.
