The Canal+ brand is back in the Dutch market after the Vivendi-owned paybox announced plans for a new direct-to-consumer service.
The new app-based platform is launching for iOS and Android devices, as well as the VodafoneZiggo cablenet.
Subscriptions will be available from canalplus.nl for a monthly €4.99, although a free seven-day trial is also available for new subscribers.
On addition to Ziggo, Canal Plus will also be available to subscribers of Canal Digitaal, who have enjoyed Canal+ Series since 2020.
The new service draws of the Canal Plus family of brands that also includes Studiocanal, SPI (Film1 and FilmBox) and Dutch FilmWorks.
Canal+ was last active in the Dutch market in 2005, when its activities were acquired by Chellomedia, part of the UPC cable network, which evolved into Ziggo.
Its return to the Netherlands began with the purchase of M7, operator of the Canal Digitaal satellite platform.
