Just over a third (36.5%) of Spaniards watch news on RTVE despite the public broadcasters falling viewing figures. According to the regulator CNMC, older viewers are the most loyal to RTVE, with seven out of ten aged 65 and over choosing to watch its channels. At the same time, young people aged 16-24 watch the least public TV.
Meanwhile, the percentage of viewers dissatisfied with RTVE’s objectivity has now reached 21%.
CNMC also notes that just over half of Spaniards (54.1%) declare themselves regular viewers of one of the public TV channels (La 1, La 2, Canal 24 Horas, Teledeporte and Clan TV).
It adds that 73.5% of Spaniards aged 65 or over follow one of the public channels; 65.1% between 50 and 64 years old and 50% between 35 and 49 years old.
